Primary Contact 2 Practice Test

In the scenario of experiencing an engine failure below 2000 feet AGL (Above Ground Level), the most critical action is to make a timely decision on how to proceed. This is due to the limited altitude available for maneuvering and the decreased reaction time to either successfully land the aircraft or to prepare for an ejection if necessary.

At this altitude, every second counts, and pilots must quickly assess the situational factors such as terrain, the ability to glide to a suitable landing area, and the aircraft's performance capabilities. Making an informed, swift decision could be the difference between a successful outcome and a more serious incident.

While actions such as confirming landing clearance, preparing the aircraft for landing, or completing checklists are important, they may not be the priority when faced with an immediate engine failure at low altitude. The pilot's capacity to evaluate the situation quickly is paramount, which is why focusing on decision-making is essential in this scenario.
